MVCC receives $2.8 million grant for worker training

 

Mohawk Valley Community College received a $2.8 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to help prepare workers for careers in cyber security.

Part of the fifth and final round of Community-Based Job Training Grant awards, the money is part of $125 million awarded to 41 community colleges and organizations.


Wireless Grids, Summerhill Biomass partnering on pilot project

 

Wireless Grids Corp. and Summerhill Biomass Systems announced a partnership today involving smart-grid technology.

Wireless Grids will deploy its software product for automated control of Summerhill's biomass energy systems at several locations in New York. The product will allow Summerhill's systems to be managed and share information through mobile devices.


Upstate Medical University eyes acquisition of Community General

SYRACUSE - The State University of New York (SUNY) Board of Trustees announced Tuesday that Upstate Medical University is considering acquiring Community General Hospital. And the SUNY Board says it supports the move if current analysis shows it would benefit the institution.


Binghamton University develops online forensic health program

 

Binghamton University's Decker School of Nursing and the school's Office of Continuing Education and Outreach have created an online forensic health certificate program, the school announced Monday.

The program is aimed at providing training for health-care professionals on how to serve as liaisons between law and medical science, the school said in a news release.


ESD awards funds for area projects

 

The board of directors of Empire State Development Corp. (ESD) approved funding for several area projects at a meeting June 24.

The board approved a total of $30 million in funding, which it said will help retain more than 500 existing jobs and create 29 new ones throughout New York. ESD noted in a news release that all funding is contingent upon final passage of the state budget.
