State law requires prior review for health-insurance premium hikes

The New York State Insurance Department again has the authority to review and approve health-insurance premium increases before they take effect.

Gov. David Paterson signed the bill, allowing the reinstatement of the power, into law on June 9.

RP Solutions sees growth so far in 2010

 

RP Solutions, an Ithaca-based software developer, said today the company added 10 new contracts since the beginning of 2010.
The new customers include city governments, municipal utilities, a health-care biller, a collections agency, a retail supercenter, and a nonprofit organization. RP is a developer of payment and remittance software.

U.S. Labor Department files suit over fired Syracuse bus driver

 

The U.S. Department of Labor today announced the filing of a lawsuit against an Ohio school bus company alleging it fired a Syracuse bus driver nearly three years ago for raising health and safety concerns.

The lawsuit targets Cincinnati-based First Student, Inc. and Thomas Waldron, a former contract manager at the company's Syracuse location.


Syracuse law firm opens Camillus office, Cambs moves

CAMILLUS — Costello, Cooney & Fearon, PLLC, a Syracuse–based law firm founded in 1896, has opened a new office in Camillus in a space that another smaller firm had previously occupied.
