Accounting program focuses on minority students

 

The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants today announced it is partnering with the State University of New York Oswego on a program that targets minority students in area high schools.

The society's Foundation for Accounting Education is offering its Career Opportunities in the Accounting Profession program to 28 high school juniors from June 27 to June 30. Recruitment for the program is focused on minority groups historically underrepresented in the accounting profession, according to the society.


The MOST expands admissions program for students

SYRACUSE — The Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science and Technology (MOST) received a $20,000 donation from Bank of America June 10 at a press conference held at the museum at 500 S. Franklin St.


SUNY Upstate professor to lead American Geriatrics Society

 

Dr. Sharon Brangman, professor of medicine at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University (SUNY Upstate), is the new president of the American Geriatrics Society (AGS).

Brangman was sworn in as president during the society's annual scientific meeting on May 13 in Orlando, Fla. SUNY Upstate announced her appointment today.


EPA awards $500K for local project

 

A project developed by the Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board is one of 25 nationwide to receive a combined $10 million in funding from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The EPA announced the $500,000 in funding today. The planning board won the grant through the competitive Climate Showcase Communities program.

St. Joseph's CEO to step down

 

Theodore Pasinski will step down as president and CEO of St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center, effective Dec. 31.
Pasinski joined St. Joseph's in 1974 and became CEO in 1994. He has also served as chairman of the St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center Foundation, the facility's philanthropic and fundraising arm.
