Sensis plans job cuts

Sensis Corp. plans to cut an undetermined number of jobs in the coming weeks in response to changes in some of its markets.

The company will know how many jobs it will eliminate by Aug. 1, Beth Larson, a Sensis spokeswoman, said in an e-mail. The cuts will include a mix of technical and corporate positions.


Novomer locks up $18M in federal funding

Novomer, Inc. is one of six companies that will share in $106 million in funding from the economic stimulus act to develop ways to convert captured carbon dioxide into useful products.

The company, a Cornell University spinoff, will get $18.4 million. Novomer is developing plastics created from renewable sources that can be used to produce everything from containers to coatings and laminates.


National Grid, NYSERDA to help hospitals cut energy costs

National Grid and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) today launched a program to help the utility's hospital customers reduce their energy costs.

National Grid and NYSERDA announced the $10 million program at the State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate Medical University.


Five companies win commercialization grants

Five area companies received more than $246,000 to help commercialize new green and clean technologies.
The grants are the latest round in the Commercialization Assistance Program, which provides funding for projects that commercialize new products and services in the fields of indoor environmental quality, water resources, and clean and renewable energy.
