Lockheed, Sikorsky team up again

Lockheed Martin Corp. (NYSE: LMT) and Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. will team up to compete for the contract to replace the Air Force's fleet of combat search and rescue helicopters.

The companies plan to offer an advanced version of Sikorsky's UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter. Under the agreement between the two firms, Sikorsky would be the prime contractor with Lockheed the major subsystems supplier.


National Grid launches recycling program for old refrigerators, freezers

National Grid is starting a new recycling program for old refrigerators and freezers.

The utility is giving customers a $30 rebate if they call to schedule a pickup of second refrigerators or freezers. National Grid and its vendor, JACO Environmental, remove the appliances at no charge and then dismantle and recycle them.


Excellus report finds savings in e-prescribing

Upstate New Yorkers could potentially avoid more than 2 million "adverse drug events" if all physicians started using e-prescribing systems, according to a new report from Excellus BlueCross BlueShield.

Excellus, Central New York's largest health insurer, released the report today. E-prescribing involves sending prescriptions to pharmacies electronically, instead of writing them out, telephoning, or faxing them.


Paychex CEO Judge to resign at end of July

Jonathan Judge, CEO and president of Paychex, Inc., will step down at the end of this month, the payroll and human-resources services company announced today. An executive committee will take over until a replacement is found.
