SBA offers podcasts on exporting

 

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is offering three podcasts on exporting with information on issues small businesses face when dealing with specific countries.

The agency announced the podcasts today. They feature interviews with business representatives from Uganda, Cameroon, and Bahrain and are part of the SBA's effort to support President Barack Obama's National Export Initiative (NEI).


Brooks to leave Tech Garden

 

Paul Brooks, vice president for entrepreneurship programs at the Syracuse Tech Garden, will leave the facility's staff July 14.

Brooks announced his departure in an email Friday. He joined the Tech Garden as executive director in July 2006.

Federal grant to help fund new Centro station downtown

 

U.S. Rep. Daniel Maffei (D-DeWitt) on Thursday announced a federal grant of $8.5 million that will help pay for construction of a new Centro bus transfer station in downtown Syracuse.

The funding is part of $300 million in grants for bus and trolley projects that the U.S. Department of Transportation announced Thursday.


Commerce official discusses exporting with business leaders

 

Local business officials today discussed exporting during a meeting with Rick Wade, senior advisor and deputy chief of staff to U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke.

The Central New York Technology Development Organization at 445 Electronics Parkway in Salina hosted the roundtable discussion. About 25 people attended the event.


Maffei, Gillibrand want EPA leading Onondaga Lake cleanup

 

U.S. Rep. Daniel Maffei (D-DeWitt) today announced a proposal that would put the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in charge of the cleanup of Onondaga Lake.
U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) is introducing a similar bill in her chamber.

The lawmakers outlined their proposal, which would officially be known as the Onondaga Lake Restoration Act, during a press conference at Syracuse's Inner Harbor.
