Drug coverage cancellation affects more than 250 in Onondaga County

 

More than 250 Medicare Part D enrollees in Onondaga County are weighing their options after federal regulators cancelled their prescription drug coverage through a New York City-based insurance company.

Medicare Part D is the prescription drug benefit available through Medicare.


Maffei to support health-care bill

 

U.S. Rep. Daniel Maffei (D-DeWitt) plans to support the current proposal for health-care reform in the House of Representatives.
Maffei announced his support for the plan today at the DeWitt office of the American Cancer Society.

Utica National reports loss for 2009

NEW HARTFORD — The recession, state taxes, and asbestos claims all took a bite out of 2009 earnings at Utica National Insurance Group, which reported a net loss from operations of $48.2 million.

IIABNY opposes producer-compensation regulation

DeWITT — The DeWitt–based Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New York (IIABNY) announced Feb. 10 it is prepared to proceed with a lawsuit against the New York State Insurance Department to stop a new producer-compensation regulation from taking effect.
IIABNY, headquartered at 5784 Widewaters Parkway in DeWitt, is a not-for-profit trade association that represents 1,800 independent insurance agents in New York.
