State funds to aid housing projects

 

The State Division of Housing and Community Renewal and nyhomes today announced $32 million in funding for communities in Central New York.

The money will aid development of affordable housing, redevelopment of downtown areas, and upgrades to water and sewer systems.


Local, statewide home sales tumble in July

 

Statewide sales of existing single-family homes fell 50 percent in July after a "record-setting" sales total in June, which was boosted by the now expired federal home-buyer tax credit.

July home sales also declined by more than 50 percent in Onondaga and Broome counties and nearly 30 percent in Oneida County, according to the New York State Association of Realtors (NYSAR). The association released its latest survey on home sales today.


Tops Plaza in Owego has a new owner

 

A buyer from Long Island is the new owner of the Tops Plaza is Owego, according to Joseph Pietrafesa II, a broker with Investment Real Estate Advisors.

Pietrafesa brokered the $2.65 million, all-cash transaction, which he announced on Friday.


Weitsman to buy the The Krebs, invest $1.85M in renovations

The Krebs, a 111-year-old seasonal eatery in Skaneateles, has been bought by Adam Weitsman, president of Upstate Shredding LLC and Ben Weitsman & Son, and his wife, Kim. Weitsman plans to renovate the establishment and donate the profits to charity.SKANEATELES — A Skaneateles man who operates a scrap-metal business in Tioga County has plans to buy a restaurant that’s considered a Skaneateles landmark.


Northland building owner cuts price in hopes of finding buyer

The Northland Communications building on Court Street in Utica. The building’s owner has slashed the price by 20 percent to $398,000, hoping to find a buyer.UTICA — The owner of the Northland Communications building on Court Street never intended to own the building and lowered the asking price after almost two months on the market in hopes of unloading the four-story office building.
