SYRACUSE — A gift from Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists (SOS) will help create new student scholarships at Onondaga Community College (OCC).
SOS is giving the college $250,000, which will be used to create the Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Community Scholars Scholarship. The money will be part of OCC’s Community Scholars program, which awards up to $1,000 to incoming high school graduates, adult students, and former students who did not complete their degrees, but are within 15 credits of finishing.
The gift will also support the SRC Arena, which hosts a variety of sports, cultural, and community events.
“Our practice is dedicated to helping people live active, healthy lives, but we also understand the power of education and enrichment,” SOS CEO Michael Humphrey said in a news release. “We hope to enhance as many lives as possible through our support.”
