MONTOUR FALLS, N.Y. — Schuyler Hospital will use a $4,000 donation to help fund a cancer-infusion chair for the hospital.

“Once again, we are grateful for and humbled by the support we continue to receive from our local and National Elks organizations. Watkins Glen Elks Club has always supported our community and our hospital.” Rebecca Gould, president & CFO of Schuyler Hospital, said. “Having a new cancer-infusion chair will enhance our ability to serve local cancer patients by making treatment available, comfortable, and convenient for them at Schuyler Hospital. The donation helps us to continue to enhance our technology and treatment facilities.”

The donation stems from a grant initiated by Tom Phillips, retired Watkins Glen School District superintendent, Schuyler Health Foundation board member and treasurer of the Watkins Glen Elks Club. The Watkins Glen Elks Lodge #1546 wrote the grant and passed it through the National Elks Association, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the U.S.A., known as the Grand Lodge, Schuyler Hospital said.

“This is the third consecutive year the Watkins Glen Elks 1546 has recognized the importance of supporting Schuyler Hospital as a critical asset in our community,” Philips said. “With this year’s donation the Watkins Glen Elks has donated a total of $12,000 over the past 3 years. None of this would be possible without the Leadership of Secretary Charles Franzeese and Exulted Ruler Lou Debolt. Thank you to the Elks National Foundation for recognizing and supporting Watkins Glen Elks 1546 in our effort to support out community.”

Schuyler Hospital, which is part of Ithaca–based Cayuga Health, is a 16-bed critical-access hospital with a 120-bed skilled-nursing facility attached in Montour Falls.
