SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon on Thursday announced his nomination of Dr. Kathryn Anderson to serve as the next Onondaga County Health Commissioner.

Anderson is a professor at Upstate Medical University. The Onondaga County Legislature still needs to approve the nomination.

If approved, Anderson will replace Dr. Indu Gupta, who stepped down from the role in early July.

In her work at Upstate Medical, Anderson is an assistant professor of medicine and an assistant professor of microbiology and immunology, per the Upstate Medical website.
