Schumer urges Breeze Airways to begin service at Syracuse airport

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D–N.Y.) is asking Salt Lake City, Utah–based Breeze Airways to launch service at Syracuse Hancock International Airport. The airline’s flights would focus on “unserved, high demand areas,” particularly on the West Coast and in the Southeast. (Photo credit: zoeyadvertising.com)

The ask took place “in a personal meeting” that Schumer had with Breeze Airways CEO David Neeleman, the senator’s office noted.

Schumer said having the additional options would boost competition, availability of low-cost flights, and connectivity for travelers and businesses in Central New York. He added that landing Breeze in Syracuse would build on the airport’s recent success in luring new airlines and routes.

Headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, Breeze Airways describes itself as an airline that “provides nonstop service between underserved routes across the U.S. at affordable fares.”
