People news: Herkimer College names research and assessment specialist

Brenda Carney

HERKIMER, N.Y. — Herkimer County Community College announced it has appointed Brenda Carney of Little Falls as research and assessment specialist.

In this role, Carney is responsible for developing research methods, gathering and inputting data, analyzing results, and compiling and disseminating outcomes in graphic and narrative reports and presentations. She will engage in accreditation projects and maintain institutional research and institutional-effectiveness records, including essential data reports, the college said in a release.

Carney previously served as an account manager at Northstar Recycling in Little Falls, business-data analyst for Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, project coordinator at Mohawk Valley Community College, and research assistant and program manager at Herkimer College.

Carney also worked as an art teacher and special-education teacher at Herkimer BOCES, art teacher in the Frankfort-Schuyler Central School District, and adjunct instructor at Herkimer College. She holds an associate degree in art studies from Herkimer College and a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies/creative arts from SUNY Empire State College.
