HCR Home Care seeks new CEO

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — HCR Home Care announced that it is seeking a new CEO as founder and current CEO Louise Woerner is stepping down.

Woerner will continue as CEO until her successor is named, per a Tuesday news release. She will remain on the board as executive chairman.

The Rochester–based company operates a Central New York office at the Thruway Office Building at 290 Elwood Davis Road in the town of Salina.

HCR’s board of directors is working with Orlando, Florida–based Kirby Bates Associates and Atlanta, Georgia–based Tyler & Company in a national search for a new CEO.

“Louise has been an exceptional leader for both HCR and the health care industry. She has thoughtfully prepared HCR’s senior leadership team for the transition,” Clayton Osborne, a member of the HCR Home Care board of directors, said. “The board is confident HCR will continue to grow and foster Louise’s vision to provide the best quality home care across upstate [New York]”

The pandemic has brought home care “into focus.” Woerner added. “With growing recognition of the excellent and safe care that can be provided in the home, and the increased desire to age in place, it is a great time to infuse the company with a new leader to accelerate our growth and increase HCR’s contributions to the health of New York state.”

Founded in 1978, HCR started providing licensed services in Monroe County. Today, the company has the “largest footprint” in upstate New York, serving 25 counties for certified, licensed, care-management services, per its release.
