SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Onondaga County businesses are being encouraged to take a survey and answer questions about any difficulties they’re having in finding new employees.

The workforce survey is available at ongoved.com, the website of the Onondaga County Office of Economic Development.

Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon discussed the survey during his Thursday coronavirus briefing at the Oncenter. It includes questions about if businesses are having a difficult time hiring new people and what wages they’re paying.

“We’re very concerned about getting people back to work to fill the thousands of jobs we have and we need to know if policy at any level of government is impacting this negatively,” McMahon said. “So I ask that all of our employers who are trying to hire and are having a difficult time go to ongoved.com to fill out that employer survey so we can get a grip on what’s happening in each industry in our community, look at the policies that might be driving outcomes, whether good or bad, and then we can move forward.”

The survey seeks to help county officials gather information “so we can see what’s happening on the ground,” he noted.
