BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — Following the recent jump in COVID-19 cases in Broome County, Binghamton’s two main health systems, UHS and Lourdes, announced a policy of no visitors at their facilities, starting on Tuesday.

The exception will be those at beginning-of-life, end-of-life, and pediatric patients.

The facilities affected include the UHS Binghamton General Hospital, UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Hospital in Binghamton, and the organizations’ primary care and specialty care locations and outpatient surgery sites.

UHS and Lourdes are asking people who are not feeling well to call their provider’s office before they come in. “Please do not come in for an appointment if you have a fever, shortness of breath, cough, or any combination of those,” they said in a joint release.

Those experiencing these or other COVID-related symptoms are advised to use the COVID virtual screening tool at nyuhs.org or the COVID-19 self-assessment at https://healthcare.ascension.org to be directed to the right care.
