UTICA, N.Y. — Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) announced it is requiring masking in all patient-care areas and for all visitors beginning at 7 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4.

MVHS cited high community transmission levels of COVID-19 in Oneida County and surrounding areas as tracked by its infection-prevention team for necessitating the masking requirement.

At Wynn Hospital, all visitors and outpatients, staff in patient-care areas, and patients outside of their rooms will need to wear a mask, according to a news release from the health-care system. Patients do not need to wear a mask in their rooms.
