Area companies help secure needed supplies in coronavirus emergency

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — CenterState CEO, the region’s primary economic-development organization, says area business have been stepping up with vital donations of needed personal protection equipment (PPE) to hep area hospitals and health-care providers.

A number of local construction firms have donated N-95 masks to hospitals in the Syracuse region. The number of masks totaled more than 4,500 as of March 23, according to a CenterState CEO spokeswoman.

Companies also donated several hundred nitrile gloves that have gone to Crouse Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center, the Syracuse Community Health Center, and Oswego Health.

The donors of the PPE include:

  • Hayner Hoyt Construction
  • Hueber-Breuer Construction
  • Riccelli Enterprises
  • A number of area dental offices

Other companies in the region are gearing up to manufacture masks, protective gowns, and other PPEs, according to CenterState CEO.

Additionally, area businesses are collaborating to produce hand sanitizer. CenterState CEO says they include:

  • 1911 Distilling / Beak & Skiff
  • Last Shot Distilling
  • Madison Co. Distilling
  • Lock 1 Distilling
  • Waterman’s Distillery
  • Old Home Distilling
  • Cornell University
  • Rapid Cure Technologies
  • Attis Biofuels (Attis Industries)
  • Hall Island Distillery in Cicero in partnership with Haun Welding Supply, Inc.

These products are going through Onondaga County Emergency Management, which is doing triage to determine who has the greatest need and which organization a given product matches best, according to CenterState CEO. The organization has a team working on this and helping to funnel information for that process and to make connections to resources.
