VERONA. N.Y. — Oneida Indian Nation late Monday morning announced that it will be temporarily closing its three casino properties — Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, Point Place Casino in the Bridgeport area, and Yellow Brick Road Casino in Chittenango — starting today at 5pm.
The announcement came just after New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that all casinos, restaurants and bars, movie theaters, and gyms in the state are to shut down at 8 p.m. Monday night in attempt to slow the spread of the coronavirus. The governor also urged Native American casinos in the state to close, but noted that he couldn’t force them to do so.
The Oneida Nation said it’s closing its casinos for public health and safety reasons, amid the coronavirus pandemic. It provided no timeline for reopening at this time.
