SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Onondaga Community College’s (OCC) teaching restaurant, With Love, is partnering with the Syracuse Urban Partnership and its Salt City Market to provide education and training opportunities.
The Salt City Market is currently under construction at 484 S. Salina St. in Syracuse.
In the partnership, With Love, will no longer continue as a training restaurant in its original format with the cuisine changing every six months, Roger Mirabito, OCC’s executive director of communications, confirmed to CNYBJ in an email.

Instead, OCC will use With Love,’s space at 435 North Salina St. to support food-system entrepreneurship in collaboration with Syracuse Urban Partnership.
With Love, will host on-site workshops through OCC’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to support entrepreneurs in CenterState CEO’s Up Start program. Workshops will be adapted to the needs of the entrepreneurs.
Topics will include business-plan development, business formation, financial planning, marketing plan, organizational management, and e-commerce.
Syracuse Urban Partnership will also provide training in ServSafe food handling, recipe costing, scaling and sourcing, and preventive maintenance for Up Start students. Participants will also use With Love, as a commissary kitchen and small event space to support the work of local food entrepreneurs.
The With Love, restaurant opened to the public in December 2016. Students enrolled in OCC’s food service management and line cook training programs learned and worked there.
The cuisine changed every six months along with the restaurateur or entrepreneur in residence. Cuisines have included Pakistan, Vietnam, Palestine, Burma, Somalia, and Savannah/Low Country.
Adam Sudmann, who was the program manager at With Love, is now market manager at Salt City Market.
