ROME, N.Y. — David Lundquist, president and CEO of Rome Memorial Hospital (RMH), has informed the board of trustees that he will resign his position on Friday.
Lundquist has served as hospital CEO since March 2016.
RMH has named Mark Murphy, chief strategy officer at St. Joseph’s Health, as interim president and CEO while it searches for new permanent leader. RMH has been an affiliate of St. Joseph’s Health since March 2017.
Lundquist cited the need to spend more time with his family in Oklahoma and Arkansas as a reason for his resignation, RMH said in a Thursday news release.
The board “respects his decision” to focus on his family and said they are “pleased” with what the hospital has accomplished these last three years, specifically the changes in patient-care delivery “standards and culture.”
“My retirement comes at a time when the hospital is positioned for growth with the addition of several new specialists,” Lundquist said in the news release. “It has been a pleasure to work with a dedicated team of people who are committed to delivering exceptional care for this community.”
At an upcoming meeting, the RMH board will initiate the process for the search and hiring of the next president and CEO.
