People news: Health Foundation board names Alford vice chair

Lisa Alford

The board of trustees of the Health Foundation for Western and Central New York announced it has named Lisa Alford vice chair of the board.

Alford first joined the board in 2012 and is now taking on an expanded role, the Health Foundation said in a news release.

Besides her role with the foundation, Alford is commissioner of the Onondaga County Department of Adult & Long Term Care Services in Syracuse.

“We are so pleased that Lisa is expanding her leadership with the Health Foundation, bringing her substantial experience in public sector health to bear in her role as vice chair,” Nora OBrien-Suric, president of the Health Foundation, said in the release. “She is a tremendous leader in our community and a true champion for the people of Central New York.”

Beyond her Onondaga County and Health Foundation roles, Alford is vice chair of the Women’s Fund of Central New York; a member of the board of directors of the American Heart Association and the OASIS senior education program. She is also a member of Gov. Cuomo’s New York State Behavioral Health Advisory Council; the League of Women Voters; the CNY Population Health Improvement Regional Advisory Committee; and the Junior League of Syracuse.

Alford resides in Manlius, the Health Foundation said.
