SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Nascentia Health, one of Central New York’s largest home health care agencies, recently announced it has promoted Joseph Twardy to president of health plans and chief administrative officer.
In his four-year tenure with Nascentia Health, he has played “a pivotal role in transforming” the health plan division, making it the highest-performing upstate New York managed long-term support and service (MLTSS) health plan, the organization contended in a news release. Twardy previously served as Nascentia Health’s executive VP of health plans.
In his new role, Twardy will oversee a comprehensive portfolio of health plans, including Medicaid managed long term care, Medicaid Advantage Plus (a fully integrated dual Medicare and Medicaid product for the most at-risk New Yorkers), Medicare dual eligible special needs plans (D-SNP), and Medicare institutional special needs plans (I-SNPs) health plans.
Twardy’s prior experience before Nascentia Health includes leading MLTSS plans at Fidelis Care (now part of Centene) and holding VP positions at Ellis Medicine and Hospital. He has also served as the president and CEO of the Visiting Nurse Service of Northeastern NY.
Nascentia Health says it offers in-home skilled nursing and therapies and home health aides. Across the state, Nascentia provides managed long-term care in 48 counties and Medicare Advantage plans in 15 counties. Founded in Syracuse in 1890, the agency today has more than 500 employees in offices in Syracuse, Rome, Rochester, Buffalo, and Albany.
