OSWEGO, N.Y. — St. Luke Health Services in Oswego has started a telemedicine program from Curavi Health that can provide care “after hours.”

With Curavi Health, board-certified physicians can treat patients on site at St. Luke Health Services, “day and night,” St. Luke Health Services said in a release.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania–based Curavi Health Inc. provides telemedicine products that are customized for nursing homes, per its website. Curavi is a Latin verb meaning, “to care for.”

Curavi Health’s doctors will work with St. Luke’s existing nurses and doctors to deliver treatment while speaking directly with, examining, and treating a patient through two-way video and digital-diagnostic equipment.

CNY Cares grant

The telemedicine program is supported by grant through the Central New York Care Collaborative (CNY Cares) Innovation Fund.

Besides St. Luke Health Services, the $246,000 grant is also supporting implementation of telemedicine at Oswego Health’s Manor at Seneca Hill and at Morningstar Residential Care Center in Oswego, Greg Osetek, director of community relations at St. Luke, told BJNN in an email.

CNY Cares is a partnership that connects more than 2,000 health-care and community-based service providers in six counties (Cayuga, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, and Oswego) across Central New York.

Its primary goal is to serve the population by improving the coordination of health-care services, “enhancing the quality of performance outcomes, and creating an overall better system of care for patients,” per the St. Luke release.

CNY Cares established the Innovation Fund in 2017 to help coordinate services and improve care for Medicaid and uninsured patients by funding “creative approaches” that address physical, social, and mental-health needs while fostering cross-sector partnerships.
