SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Downtown Farmers Market opened for its 47th season in Syracuse’s Clinton Square on Tuesday.

The seasonal, weekly event is available “rain or shine” every Tuesday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. through Oct. 8, the Downtown Committee of Syracuse Inc. said in a news release.

Vendors at the farmers market offer locally-grown fruits, vegetables, plants, flowers, and baked goods.

“As the growing season continues,” the market will include as many as 50 of the region’s farmers and produce dealers, the Downtown Committee said.

The market attracts as many as 5,500 visitors per week.

Next month, the Food Bank of Central New York will offer cooking demonstration at the farmers market. The demonstrations — as well as weekly recipe cards produced by the Onondaga County Public Library — include produce and ingredients available for purchase at the market.
