“This is huge for the Syracuse community, for the MOST as a STEM learning center, and it’s what we do best – the intersection of science education and fun,” Lauren Kochian, president of the MOST, said in a Wednesday news release. “The MOST exists to educate and excite through exploration and hands-on learning. What better way is there to share the wonders of science than through huge, life-sized dinosaurs that captivate and fascinate all ages? We are thrilled to welcome this new permanent exhibit.”
STEM is short for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
In the last 30 years, the museum has brought in a visiting Dinomania exhibit a total of seven times, most recently this past fall through January. Over the years, it has “grown to be the most popular exhibit” among visitors of the MOST.

“The new Dino Zone comes at the ideal time for the MOST and for downtown Syracuse,” Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh said in the news release. “The MOST is at the heart of a growing science and technology hub in our downtown area, with activity happening in our Innovation District on Warren Street and major investment coming for a new STEAM school at the old Central Tech High School. A permanent dinosaur exhibit gives one more reason for people from all over the area to visit the MOST and spend time downtown. I congratulate the MOST’s staff and foundation leadership.”
The Museum is currently undergoing renovations in the former café space, which will serve as home to the new exhibit. The dinosaur exhibit grand opening is planned for the evening of July 10, with MOST members, sponsors and donors invited to attend. Opening weekend for the general public will happen a few days later on July 13 and July 14.
