What channel is the Syracuse basketball game on? (at NC State)

RALEIGH, N.C. — Syracuse basketball (17-7, 8-3 ACC) looks for a second straight win and an NCAA Tournament résumé boost when the Orange visit the North Carolina State Wolfpack (17-7, 5-6 ACC) on Wednesday night.

The game tips off just after 8 p.m. at PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina and will be televised on Raycom Sports affiliates in local markets. Tom Werme and Cory Alexander will be the announcers. This is the third straight Orange game for Werme.

In the Syracuse area, the game will be shown on WSTQ – CW 6. In other Central New York markets, the contest will be available on the following TV stations, according to the ACC:

  • Binghamton: WBPN (My 8)
  • Elmira: WJKP-TV Twin Tiers (My Network TV)
  • Utica: WPNY-LP Channel 11 (My Network TV)
  • Watertown: WWTI – ABC 50

Elsewhere in upstate New York, you can find the Orange-Wolfpack game on these channels:

  • Albany: WNYA My 4
  • Plattsburgh: WPTZ-D3 – MeTV
  • Rochester: WHAM-DT2 – The CW Rochester

Syracuse is coming off a 67-56 win at home against Boston College on Saturday afternoon. The Orange were led by Tyus Battle, who scored 21 points, and Buddy Boeheim, who added 16 points, to complete the season sweep of the rival Eagles.

NC State enters the Syracuse game after a 79-76 win at Pittsburgh last Saturday. The Wolfpack scorched the nets with 14 made three pointers in 27 attempts. That snapped the team’s three-game losing streak, with each loss against teams ranked No. 12 or better in the major polls.

What’s at stake for Syracuse?

Syracuse has completed the easier portion of its ACC schedule and has largely succeeded in winning games it was supposed to as it has assembled an 8-3 conference record so far. Now comes the hard part. Six of the last seven games the Orange plays are against teams ranked higher than its No. 48 spot in the NCAA’s NET rankings and they likely will be the underdog in those half-dozen contests.

The Cuse needs to find a way to get a couple more ACC wins in order to position itself for an at-large bid to the 2019 NCAA Tournament, and three victories would be better. A win over the Wolfpack, ranked No. 35 in NET, would be a great start to strengthening the Orange case for a bid. NC State is also a bubble team and needs this game to help its tournament cause.

Wednesday’s contest is the 12th all-time meeting between Syracuse and NC State, with the Orange leading the series 7-4, including a 3-1 mark in Raleigh. The Wolfpack, however, won last year’s matchup, 74-70, at the Carrier Dome on Valentine’s Day.
