ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Excellus BlueCross BlueShield announced it has appointed Dr. Stephen H. Cohen as the health insurer’s senior VP and corporate medical director.
Dr. Cohen has served as a medical director at Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, as well as the president of Lifetime Care Home Health Care and Hospice and Lifetime Health Medical Group, Excellus said in an email bulletin.
Before joining Excellus, Cohen was corporate VP for medical affairs at MVP Health Care from 2006 to 2012. He has also served as lab and medical director for Ignitehealth Wellness Management Services and medical director for Relph Benefit Advisors.

A primary care physician and lifelong resident of Rochester, Dr. Cohen is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the Certifying Commission in Medical Management. He is also a member of the Monroe County Medical Society and the American Association for Physician Leadership (ACPE).
After graduating from Albany Medical College, Dr. Cohen completed his residency in primary care internal medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center, and held a leadership role at the University of Rochester Center for Primary Care, Excellus said.
