ALBANY, N.Y. — The New York State Association of Health Care Providers, Inc. (HCP) recently announced it has appointed Kathy Febraio as its next president.
Febraio, with more than 20 years of leadership experience in association and trade-group management, will begin her new post on Jan. 1, 2019, HCP said in a news release.
HCP is a trade association representing licensed home-care service agencies, certified home-health agencies, hospices, and health related organizations across New York.
Febraio will be working with the HCP board of directors and retiring president Claudia Hammar to make the transition as “seamless as possible for HCP and its members.”
“Kathy possesses a strong skill set in both association operations and advocacy and I am excited to begin working with her in the new year,” Rick Schaefer, chairman of the HCP board, said in the release. “HCP is very fortunate to have such a dedicated and talented professional at the helm of the organization.”
In her previous leadership roles, Febraio focused on areas that include change management and nonprofit development. She also has experience in developing advocacy strategies, policy analysis, public testimony, political-action committee fundraising, grassroots advocacy and coalition building, HCP said.
“I look forward to leading the home-care industry in adapting, evolving and thriving within a changing health-care environment and setting the industry standards for quality, cost-effective client care” Febraio said in the release. “Dedicated home caregivers provide essential health-care services to a wide range of people including post-surgical patients; people with disabilities; those with chronic diseases; and long-term care patients. The value and importance of home care cannot be underestimated.”
Before joining HCP, Febraio served as the executive director for the Albany–based Pharmacists Society of the State of New York, Inc. and as executive director of the New York State Speech-Language-Hearing Association, Inc. Prior to that, she also led communication, public relations, and marketing efforts for organizations that included the State University of New York system administration.
