People news: Maher and Potter transition to new roles in Syracuse Athletics Department

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Jeremiah Maher and Mark Potter, two experienced employees of the Syracuse Athletics Department and Carrier Dome ticket office are transitioning roles, the department announced.

Associate Athletics Director Maher is moving from his role as the supervisor of Syracuse ticketing and customer service in the Carrier Dome box-office operation to become the associate AD for premium seating and major gifts, Syracuse Athletics said in a news release. Maher, who has been with the athletics department for 12 years, will oversee all premium seating for Orange athletics events.

Before his time at Syracuse, Maher was director of ticket sales at Seton Hall University, and he began his career in college athletics at Siena College as an assistant director of sports information and marketing. A native of Rochester, he earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing and management from Siena and holds an MBA with a concentration in sports management from Seton Hall.

Potter, a Painted Post native who has worked for Syracuse Athletics since November 2009, will serve as the interim director of ticket operations. In his role as associate director of ticket operations, Potter led the Syracuse Athletics ticketing and customer-service teams in the box office, the release stated. Potter moved to the box office staff in June 2010 as a manager for outbound ticket sales and was responsible for generating ticket and donation revenue for football, men’s and women’s basketball, and men’s lacrosse through outbound customer service and sales calls. He was promoted to assistant director of ticket sales in 2013 and became associate director in January 2018.

Prior to joining the box-office staff, Potter completed an internship with Syracuse ISP Sports, where he assisted the corporate sales team with day-to-day operations and with many of the promotions executed at the Carrier Dome during Syracuse games. A 2009 graduate of SUNY Cortland, Potter earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management.
