Those properties will either be demolished and/or renovated.

Broome County is calling it “the latest step” to work with the City of Binghamton and Land Bank to “assist in the elimination of blight in the city,” per a news release.

“The days of selling properties at auction that really should be demolished are over. Broome County is continuing to work with our municipalities to sell [the] properties for demolition purposes so they can improve their neighborhoods for their residents,” Garnar said. “Moving forward, we are closely evaluating the foreclosure auction process and working with our new safe housing task force to make that process even better.”

The Broome County Legislature unanimously approved the resolution for the sale in its October session.
