Cazenovia College to offer criminal justice minor this fall

CAZENOVIA   —  Cazenovia College announced it will add a criminal justice minor to the college’s overall curriculum this fall 2014 semester.

The new minor will provide students with the opportunity to develop an understanding and knowledge base of the criminal justice field in addition to studies within their majors, the college said in a news release.

“Many of our students, in majors ranging from psychology to business, from management to human services, and more have expressed an interest in obtaining the minor in Criminal Justice to expand their knowledge in an area related to their majors or simply to explore an area for which they have special interests,” Sharon Dettmer, Cazenovia College’s vice president for academic affairs, said in the release.

This new minor bolsters the already popular criminal justice and homeland security studies program offered at Cazenovia College, it contends. The program prepares students for a career in the expanding field of law enforcement and homeland security, or to pursue a graduate degree or attend law school.

The program provides students with opportunities to participate in an internship in the career path of their choice, including criminal justice, homeland security, law, youth/juvenile delinquency, private investigation, probation and parole, the college says.
