AHA’s Rome Indoor Walk/Run raises more than $20,000

ROME — The American Heart Association (AHA) Utica/Mohawk Valley affiliate reported that the Rome Indoor Walk/Run on Sat. Feb. 8 attracted 215 people, helping to raise more than $20,000 to fight heart disease and stroke.

The event was held at Rome Free Academy and sponsored by Rome Memorial Hospital. The walk/run offered different walk courses to attract different types of walkers, the AHA noted.

A variety of businesses showed their wares at the event’s Expo. It also included interactive health education and provided participants a chance to pre-register for America’s Greatest Heart Run & Walk, to be held March 1 at Utica College. The $20,000 figure includes pre-registrations for that race, according to the AHA Utica/Mohawk Valley affiliate.
