DeWITT — Saab Sensis Corp. has announced plans to lay off 30 full-time employees at its U.S. operations in DeWitt and Campbell, Calif.
The affected workers are part of the firm’s air-traffic operations, the company said in a statement it emailed to CNYBJ.com.
The layoffs are the result of a “challenging business environment in both domestic and international markets,” Marc Viggiano, president and CEO of Saab Sensis, said in the statement.

“Taking these difficult actions now will enable the company to remain competitive in the market in the long term and to continue to provide the solutions and affordability our customers expect,” Viggiano added.
The job cuts seek to “balance our capacity with our current and anticipated backlog,” Viggiano said.
DeWitt–based Saab Sensis is a subsidiary of Saab AB, a Swedish defense and security company.
Saab Sensis employed 428 people in Central New York, as of December, according to CNYBJ Research.
The company provides sensor technologies, radar systems, modeling, and simulation for defense, civil aviation, airport, and airline customers.
