SYRACUSE, N.Y. — C-SPAN, which is short for cable-satellite public-affairs network, is visiting Syracuse through Thursday to “record and feature the city’s history and literary life.”
Its representatives will work on stories to air on C-SPAN2 and C-SPAN3 during a “special Syracuse weekend,” which is set for Nov. 21 and 22, Time Warner Cable said in a news release issued on Monday.
The week’s events included Monday’s visit to the Syracuse’s Institute of Technology at Syracuse Central.

Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner will also hold a “special event” on Wednesday to highlight the network’s activities during its stay in Syracuse. More details on the event are still to come, Time Warner said.
In partnership with Time Warner Cable, C-SPAN’s 2015 Cities Tour takes Book TV and American History TV on the road. C-SPAN2 and C-SPAN3 are featuring the literary life and history of each city during special weekends on the public-affairs network.
Working with its cable partners, the C-SPAN production team will take “specially outfitted,” local-content vehicles (LCVs) into Syracuse, visiting various literary and historic sites to interview local historians, authors and civic leaders during the week, Time Warner said.
The local segments recorded during this week will air on non-fiction book channel Book TV (C-SPAN2) and history channel American History TV (C-SPAN3) during C-SPAN’s weekend focusing on Syracuse in November.
C-SPAN describes itself as a network that was “created by the cable TV industry” and a network that is available in 100 million television households, according to the Time Warner Cable release.
