OSWEGO, N.Y. — Oswego Health announced that Charles (Chuck) Gijanto has accepted the offer to be the health system’s president and CEO.

Gijanto, who has more than 32 years of healthcare-leadership experience, will provide “strategic, executive and operational guidance” for Oswego Health, the organization said.

He most recently served in a consulting role as interim CFO at Massena Memorial Hospital, according to his LinkedIn page.

Earlier, Gijanto was president of Baystate Regional Markets, a division of Baystate Health, in Springfield, Massachusetts, according to Oswego Health.

Before that, he served as CFO and later as executive vice president and COO at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital Medical Center (CVPH) in Plattsburgh. Gijanto also had been VP of strategic business development at CVPH, Oswego Health said.

Gijanto had previously served as CFO at both Fanny Allen Hospital in Colchester, Vermont and Moses-Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga in Essex County.

Gijanto began his health-care career with the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare (later renamed the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) in New York City.

“I cannot be more pleased with the fine work done by our search committee and their terrific choice of Chuck Gijanto as CEO. The board and I are confident that Chuck will continue to heighten service excellence through the engagement of the medical staff, Oswego Health employees and the community in this ever-changing and competitive market. Chuck’s extraordinary leadership and proven track record, throughout his career, has resulted in significant improvements in quality, customer service and operational efficiency,” William Clark, chair of the Oswego Health board of directors, said in the organization’s news release.

The Oswego Health system includes Oswego Hospital; The Manor at Seneca Hill; Springside at Seneca Hill; Oswego Health Home Care; Physician Care, P.C.; and other supporting affiliates that provide health services to about 120,000 people in Oswego County.
