MACNY names SRCTec’s Stevens as Innovator of the Year

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — MACNY, The Manufacturers Association, today announced that it has named Gary Stevens of SRCTec as the 2015 MACNY Innovator of the Year.

For the last nine years, Stevens has served as SRCTec’s assistant vice president of operations. He was nominated by SRCTec President Drew James.

 “Gary’s ability to lead, coach, and mentor set him apart from other leaders in the industry. Throughout his tenure, Gary has played a critical role in helping SRCTec remain agile and innovative to meet our customer’s needs, and develop people such that they will establish a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence,” James said in written remarks MACNY included in a news release. “While Gary has a wealth of technical capability and a multitude of successful projects that have contributed to operational excellence at SRCTec, his most valuable innovation is his style of leadership that he exhibits on a daily basis.”

Throughout his career at SRCTec, Stevens has led several successful change-management efforts in its manufacturing operations. Stevens joined the company in 2006, during the commencement of CREW Duke, SRCTec’s counter IED system project, according to the release. Under Stevens’ leadership, within three years, production grew from fewer than 100 systems a month to more than 1,500 systems monthly, and $2 billion in revenue for SRCTec over the next five years.

The MACNY Innovator of the Year Award was created at the suggestion of MACNY member executives and CEOs, the release stated. The award’s purpose is recognize individuals in a company who, although they may not be at the executive level, consistently demonstrate forward-thinking ideas in the areas of technology, innovation, and advancement of products and production.

Stevens will be honored as part of MACNY’s 102nd Annual Dinner, in front of SRCTec colleagues and an audience of more than 500 manufacturers and business leaders from Central and Upstate New York. The dinner will be held at the Oncenter in Syracuse on May 21.
