Maua Home Décor & More to formally open in Watertown on Friday

WATERTOWN, N.Y. — A new home-decorating shop will formally open in Watertown on Friday.

Maua Home Décor & More is holding a ribbon-cutting event from noon to 5 p.m. at its storefront at 210 Franklin St. The store has been open to customers since last Saturday, April 11.

The 900-square foot shop offers handcrafted items, handmade candles, clothing accessories, furniture, and custom silk floral arrangements.

Jasmine Gigas, an Air Force veteran and Texas native, is owner of Maua Home Décor & More.

Gigas tells BJNN that she has been making floral arrangements since she first learned from her mother 15 years ago. She says she has always been passionate about home decorating in her personal life. So, when Gigas moved to Watertown and couldn’t find a store specializing in home décor, she decided to open her own. Maua Home Décor is her first business venture.

Gigas moved to Watertown because her husband, who is currently in the Air Force, is stationed at Fort Drum.

Regarding her store’s mission, Gigas says, “I really want the customer to have an experience and learn more about home décor. I don’t want it to just be a place to shop, but a place for people to come and enjoy themselves.”

Maua Home Décor & More is open weekdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Gigas runs the store by herself.
