People news: POMCO promotes Gratien

SYRACUSE, N.Y. –– POMCO, a third-party administrator of self-funded health-care and risk-management plans, has promoted Janice Gratien to manager of network development.

Gratien will lead POMCO’s professional recruitment and credentialing activities across the U.S., according to a news release that the Syracuse–based company issued today.

Prior to her promotion, Gratien was POMCO’s provider-recruitment specialist, focusing on the Central New York region. She has worked at the firm since June 2012, according to her LinkedIn profile.

“I am excited for the opportunity to lead our recruitment initiatives during this time of rapid and exciting growth,” Gratien said in the release.

Steven O’Brien, executive director of network development at POMCO, said in the release that Gratien understands what challenges physicians and practices face, making her the right person to lead the firm’s doctor-network recruitment efforts.

“Janice is able to identify opportunities for POMCO to enhance a provider’s member base, which is mutually beneficial to both organizations,” he said.

Gratien is a board member of the Medical Education and Information Association, and the Syracuse Area TIP Club.

POMCO says it is one of the nation’s largest independent third-party administrators. In January, the firm announced it is seeking to hire 55 new customer-service employees at its corporate headquarters in the Eastwood section of Syracuse. The firm also made a round of hires before that in response to growth that the company says includes both local and national clients.
