MVP Health Care, a health insurer with members in three states, on Tuesday announced it intends to withdraw its services from New Hampshire to concentrate on New York and Vermont.
The Schenectady–based health insurer covers more than 44,000 members in Central New York.
Altogether, MVP serves more than 600,000 members in its three-state service area, the health insurer said in a news release.

MVP’s membership is “highly” concentrated in Vermont and New York, the insurer said.
Its policy holders in New Hampshire account for just 1 percent of its total membership, according to MVP.
MVP will continue to insure businesses based in New York and Vermont that have locations and employees in New Hampshire, the health insurer said.
Under New Hampshire law, MVP will conduct this withdrawal over a period of time that begins with a 180-day notice to members.
The health insurer will accept renewals of existing New Hampshire insurance policies during this period, but it won’t offer coverage to new groups.
MVP will then handle all of the remaining policy obligations on its New Hampshire insurance policies, the company said.
