SYRACUSE — The Cheesecake Factory, a restaurant chain known for its selection of more than 30 cheesecakes, plans to open a location at Destiny USA before the end of the year.
It’ll be the restaurant’s first location in Central New York, Destiny USA said in a news release.
The company also has New York locations in Rochester, Buffalo, Albany, Yonkers, Westbury, West Nyack, and White Plains, according to its website.

Destiny USA has been working with The Cheesecake Factory on this deal “for quite some time,” Rob Schoeneck, general manager of Destiny USA, said in the news release.
“We have great leasing representatives that worked closely with them and we’re very proud to announce this highly anticipated venue coming to Syracuse,” Schoeneck said.
The restaurant company currently operates 167 restaurants around the world, Destiny USA said.
The Cheesecake Factory’s location will be across from fashion retailer BCBG MaxAzria on the first level of the mall’s expansion section, according to Destiny USA. It will occupy the entire corner of the space and will have both an exterior and interior entrance.
In addition to its namesake cheesecake, The Cheesecake Factory has a menu of more than 250 dishes, Destiny USA said.
The Cheesecake Factory, Inc. (NASDAQ: CAKE) owns and operates the restaurants. It also produces cheesecakes and other baked products for its restaurants, as well as for other foodservice operators, retailers, and distributors, according to Yahoo Finance.
The Cheesecake Factory, Inc. is headquartered in Calabasas Hills, Calif. David Overton, the company’s founder and CEO, opened the first restaurant in Beverly Hills in 1978.
It’s a company that started as a small Mom-n-Pop business and evolved into a publicly traded firm.
Overton’s parents, Oscar and Evelyn, opened their small cheesecake shop in Detroit in the late 1940s, according to the restaurant’s website.
In order to raise her children, Evelyn gave up the business but still provided cheesecakes for restaurants in Detroit, the website says.
Once David and his sister, Renee, grew up, their parents decided in 1972 to move their cheesecake business to Los Angeles, where they secured a 700-square-foot space and opened a business they called “The Cheesecake Factory,” the website says.
