SBA Syracuse hires economic-development specialist

SYRACUSE — The Syracuse district office of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced it has hired Daniel Rickman as an economic-development specialist.

In his new role, Rickman will focus on maintaining various marketing functions and will serve as the district international-trade officer, the SBA said in a news release.

Prior to joining the SBA, Rickman served as president of The Payroll Guy, LLC in Lubbock, Texas, a company he founded in 2009, according to Rickman’s LinkedIn profile.

The firm focused on providing payroll-processing services, business-process consulting and training, and sales training, according to the SBA.

Before launching his own business, Rickman previously worked as a payroll-sales consultant at Wells Fargo’s business-payroll services unit, according to his LinkedIn profile.

He also volunteered as a mentor and trainer with the Lubbock, Texas chapter of SCORE. That’s a nonprofit association that includes more than 13,000 volunteer-business counselors throughout the country, according to its website.

Rickman is a native of the Rochester area, the agency said.
