New York dairy farmers get higher prices for milk in May

Dairy farmers in the Empire State received an average of $20.60 per hundredweight of milk sold during May, up 10 cents from April and $3.30 more than in May 2012.

That’s according to Blair Smith, state statistician of the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, New York Field Office. The price of hay and potatoes also increased. The price of corn and wheat fell.
