Gannon’s Isle to open downtown Syracuse location

SYRACUSE — Gannon’s Isle, a popular local ice-cream and yogurt stand, will open a location in downtown Syracuse with an event set for Monday morning at 10 a.m.

The downtown location is in the Dey’s Centennial Building at 401 S. Salina St, according to the Downtown Committee of Syracuse, Inc.

The company plans to unveil a “special downtown ice-cream flavor” during the Monday-morning event, the Downtown Committee said.

The Dey’s location will be the third for Gannon’s Isle in the Syracuse area, according to the Gannon’s Isle website.

The “flagship” store for Gannon’s Isle, where the company makes its ice cream, is at 1525 Valley Drive in Syracuse, the website says. That location has operated since 1956.

Gannon’s Isle also has a location in the Shady Brook Plaza at 4800 McDonald Rd. in Onondaga.

The firm says it also operates seasonal carts in Columbus Circle, Hanover Square, and on Waverly Avenue near Bird Library on the Syracuse University campus.

Siblings Eileen and John Gannon launched Gannon’s Isle in 1982. Eileen Gannon now serves as the company president.
