SEFCU donates $250,000 to Upstate Medical University

SYRACUSE — Albany–based SEFCU, a credit union with branches in the Syracuse and Binghamton areas, today announced a donation of $250,000 for the upcoming Upstate Cancer Center to help fund advanced-patient treatments.

The money will help Upstate Medical University, site of the Upstate Cancer Center, pay for the Vero Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT) system, which offers a combination of advanced treatment and imaging technologies.

The Vero SBRT enables the delivery of high doses of radiotherapy to complex tumors located in critical areas while protecting neighboring organs, according to a SEFCU news release.

The technology allows Upstate to offer safe and more accurate treatment options, SEFCU said.

SEFCU has more than $2.5 billion in assets, more than 230,000 members, and 46 branches in Capital Region, Syracuse, Binghamton, and Buffalo.
