HealtheConnections adds new board members

SYRACUSE  —  HealtheConnections has elected five new members to its board of directors.

The Syracuse–based organization, which is the umbrella for the regional health information organization (RHIO) of Central New York and the health systems agency (HSA) of Central New York, added the board members from different counties in its 11-county service area. They hail from Cortland, Jefferson, Lewis, Oneida, and Onondaga counties.

“The nominating committee’s goal was to expand the geographic diversity of the board to better reflect the whole region served by HealtheConnections,” Board Chair Eric Hunt said in a news release. Hunt is also executive vice president and chief information officer at Skaneateles Falls–based Welch Allyn.

New board members include Jacqueline Carlton Leaf, the executive director of Seven Valleys Health Coalition, Inc., a rural health network serving Cortland County and portions of surrounding counties. They also include Tarky Lombardi Jr., a former state senator who currently practices law at Gilberti Stinziano Heintz & Smith, P.C. in Syracuse, and Dr. Steven Lyndaker, a board-certified physician in internal medicine who practices at Lowville Medical Associates and Lewis County General Hospital.

Rounding out the new members are Dr. Joseph Maldonado Jr., an Oneida County–based urologist who is president of the Mohawk Glen Urgent Care Center in Rome, and James Wright, executive director of the Development Authority of the North Country in Watertown.

HealtheConnections RHIO oversees Central New York’s health-information exchange, covering Cayuga, Cortland, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, St. Lawrence, and Tompkins counties. HealtheConnections HSA works for high-quality health care while attempting to hold down costs.
