OSWEGO — The State University of New York (SUNY) Oswego received a $5 million naming gift for its new science center, set to open in fall 2013.
The gift is the largest cash philanthropic gift in the school’s history. The center will be named the Richard S. Shineman Center for Science, Engineering, and Innovation.
Barbara Palmer Shineman, professor emerita of education at SUNY Oswego, made the gift of $5 million, which includes $4 million from the Richard S. Shineman Foundation, in memory of her late husband.
