UTICA — The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) in November announced it had awarded Human Technologies Corp. (HTC) a $2.6 million contract to manufacture chemical helmet covers.
The program will create between six and eight new sewing and production-worker positions at HTC with production scheduled to begin this month. The plan is to start shipping 40,000 covers a month starting next February for the DLA.
HTC manufactures head harnesses, canister carriers, chemical helmet covers, coveralls, and other accessory and apparel products for DLA Troop Support, which provides U.S. armed services members food, clothing, textiles, and other necessary equipment. HTC’s logistics and manufacturing division manufactures and distributes more than 1 million items annually.
