Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties seeks new CEO

UTICA — The Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties, Inc. (The Foundation) is seeking its next president and CEO. Peggy O’Shea, who has led The Foundation for nine years and has worked there for 14 years, is retiring at the end of this year, according to a news release.

The next CEO will be “a true leader” who can develop strategic consensus and then put into effect the agreed-upon strategy and goals, The Foundation said in the release.

The board said it seeks a CEO steeped in community leadership, engagement, and enhancement. The best candidates will have built a reputation for effective leadership either within Herkimer and Oneida counties or within substantial philanthropic initiatives in communities whose issues resemble those of The Foundation’s service area.

Under O’Shea’s guidance, The Foundation earned the Council on Foundation’s National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations, the most rigorous standard for philanthropy.
