Corning’s Rockwell Museum announces name consolidation, new branding

CORNING, N.Y. — The Rockwell Museum of Western Art in Corning has announced a name consolidation and new branding for the organization.

The consolidated name, The Rockwell Museum, is part of a three-year plan the museum’s board of trustees and staff executed to “engage key audiences through exhibitions, acquisitions, programming, and enhanced marketing and communications materials,” the museum said in a news release.

The museum, which focuses on “art about America,” also launched a new website and logo.

From its inception, the Rockwell Museum was intended to be a “vibrant and evolving institution,” Kristen Swain, executive director, said in the news release.

“Returning to the name The Rockwell Museum doesn’t signify a shift in mission. We’re just bringing our name in line with what people all around the region, and across the country, use to refer to us. We are keeping the same programs, exhibits, and collections our visitors and members know and love,” said Swain.

Established in 1976, the museum houses Robert Rockwell, Jr.’s collection of paintings and sculpture by Frederic Remington and Charles Russell, both of whom focused on western scenes.
